Gabriel: 18/20
When to drink: 2020 to 2030
It stood next to the less developed Angélus. The Cheval had a wonderfully malty-sweet nose, the first Cabernet France herbs appearing and a Colheita scent hovering over the whole nose. The palate is fat on the outside, with a still fine bitterness on the inside, which polarises the fat with the breed. Nevertheless, it is ready to drink and will go down in history as a very sweet Cheval. (18/20). 18: Medium-dark wine red colour, lightening at the edge and showing a certain maturity. A dream bouquet right from the start, delivering fine spicy, woody notes, fig tones, jasmine tea and delicate leathery nuances, elegantly expansive with a malty-caramel sweetness reminiscent of candy. On the palate, it displays a warm, ripe Cabernet Franc and conveys a melting flavour on the outside - on the inside it still has a somewhat roughening tone (especially on the tongue). It has everything a great Cheval Blanc needs. It just lacks a little concentration. In about 10 years, it will really be ready for savouring. Then it might gain another point. (18/20).
