Still pretty dark purple color. Explosive notes of elderberries, black cherries, tobacco, leather, smoke, sweet spices, eucalyptus, vanilla, coffee, also some minerality. It’s full-bodied, dense and powerful, with high acidity providing the freshness it needs and still medium+ tannin that is super sweet and ripe. Excellent length. Still a baby in terms of evolution but one of the wines that made me fall in love with Barossa about 20 years ago. Since then my personal taste has developped away from these wines but once in a while I thoroughly enjoy a glass of them… and Rockford (especially the Single-Vineyard-Selections) are usually my got-to wines for my Barossa-Shiraz fix. They combine Barossa richness with incredible depth and freshness and the ability to age gracefully for 20 years and more.
