Still pretty dark purple colour. Explosive notes of elderberries, black cherries, tobacco, leather, smoke, sweet spices, eucalyptus, vanilla, coffee, also some minerality. It's full-bodied, dense and powerful, with high acidity providing the freshness it needs and still medium+ tannin that is super sweet and ripe. Excellent length. Still a baby in terms of evolution but one of the wines that made me fall in love with Barossa about 20 years ago. Since then my personal taste has developped away from these wines but once in a while I thoroughly enjoy a glass of them... and Rockford (especially the Single-Vineyard-Selections) are usually my got-to wines for my Barossa-Shiraz fix. They combine Barossa richness with incredible depth and freshness and the ability to age gracefully for 20 years and more.

The Mediterranean climate of the Barossa Valley, the quality centre of South Australian viticulture, contributes to this. At Rockford, wine is made almost as it was a hundred years ago, everything is done by hand.
The Rockford wines are the best example of the South Australian style. Especially the Shiraz, which is full-bodied and powerful, yet very elegant.
