Drinking maturity wait (2025 - 2058)
Valuation 18/20
60 % Merlot, 22 % Cabernet Franc, 18 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 34 hl/ha. Extremely dark purple in colour with purple and violet hues. The bouquet begins very concentrated, appears slightly dry at first, the flavours only emerge a little more from the glass on the second try. After the powerful Pavie-Decesse and Bellevue-Mondotte, I was expecting a powerful Pavie. However, it seems that it will have a tendency towards a certain classicism. Now to the bouquet; ripe, red fruit, roasted precious wood, a little coffee, including floral traits from the two Cabernets that indicate maturity. Dense on the palate, but not compressed, lots of elderberry notes, the tannins appear round and demanding, but have already integrated somewhat into the massive body. It is not a soft Pavie, but not a hard one either. A difficult path has been sought and found through rigorous selection. I believe it will achieve the next highest score in 20 years. And it actually needs this score to do justice to its current price level.

Falstaff: 93/100

Rich bouquet: red peppers, black pepper, smoky, citrusy wood. On the palate with opulent melting and a mild impression due to the restrained acidity (and a hint of sweetness?). Soft, crumbly tannins and expansive proportions, rather defensive extract filling. Good mineral background.
