When to drink: 2007 to 2023
The Merlot-dominated wine from this famous estate. Very deep crimson with some evolution at the rim. Extremely opulent nose – the sort of nose I’d like to have seen on the Pétrus 1998 in this tasting. Minerals and then dark chocolate sweetness on the end. Slightly furry tannins. This could get a bit tiring to drink in quantity, which is why I don’t give it a higher mark, but it is super opulent and many palates other than mine would adore it.
