| Bright garnet colour, showing first signs of maturity. The nose is intoxicating, showing hot fruit, dried sultanas, suede and truffles. In other words, precisely documenting the fundamentals of the vintage. The palate is fleshy, with a striking, concentrated extract and a powerful finish. You can also sense the classic stable odour in the overall picture, which is often found in mature Lynch-Bages. An absolutely awesome piece. If you drink this wine, you won't wonder how long you can/could keep it. (19/20). 18: Magnum. Very dark wine red colour with a minimal orange rim. The nose shows dry, concentrated fruit, dark leather notes and Brazil tobacco, black pepper and smoke in the background. The palate is fleshy and powerful, somewhere between noble and arrogant. This is exactly how you love Lynch Bages. The palate goes wild and every sip is a Pauillac feast! It has reached its first stage of maturity, and the guarantee will probably not expire even after 20 years. (19/20). | |
