Lovely ruby/purple just tinged with brick red. Very pure cassis and cigar box nose, a hint of stalkiness. Pure streak of blackcurrant fruit on the palate with mouth filling tannins and medium to full body. Sophisticated, with great length and long, super-clean finish with fine, drying tannins and classy cigar box/cedar notes. Great depth, concentration and wonderfully integrated flavour elements. Top 3.

Klassisch, beruhigend, wunderbar. Und vor allem clean. Was bei Ducru’s in dieser Epoche nicht immer selbstverständlich ist. (18/20). 21: Halbe Flasche. Die Farbe ist aufhellend, deutlich aufgehellt am transparenten Rand, wenig Reifetöne. Das Nasenbild zeigt eine klassische Médoc Nase. Nobel, würzig, den kalten Jahrgangstouch 1985 zeigend; Bleistiftmine, Grafit, Teer und Gewürznelkenköpfe. Er wirkt unglaublich frisch und zeigt mehr florale, wie restfruchtige Noten. Saftiger, langer Gaumen, dunkles Malz, weiche Textur und eine gebündelte, mit Lakritze bespickte Länge aufweisend. Genau so muss ein Ducru aus diese Epoche schmecken. Und genau so muss der auch sein; filigran und erhaben zugleich. Das hat richtig Spass bereitet! Er hat sich langsam entwickelt und wird sich gemächlich weiter entwickeln. Also ein «Slow-Motion-Ducru». (18/20).
