Description

Jacques Tatasciore switched from the office to the vineyard in 1999. An economist by training, he has learnt the principle of supply and demand
well under control. Monsieur Tatasciore took over the Domaine de la Rochette, where he runs a small exclusive Pinot Noir production based on
partly 70 year old Burgundy clones.

His established colleagues may have looked at him a little askance at the beginning, but today they probably look at his fame with admiration,
his wines achieve. Pinot noir at its best, hardly less fascinating than over at the other end of the
Landes, at Gantenbein, but still clearly different.

Great Burgundies come to mind here and there, but the soils and the special climate make it possible to recognise differences.
Neuchâtel, with its chalky soils, is perfect for producing Pinot Noirs modelled on the big names in Bourgogne:
vibrant, fragrant, elegant. On the Jura slopes, whose topography is reminiscent of the Côte de Nuits, he cultivates eight meticulously selected plots totalling five hectares. He has pruned shoots from the best vines and grafted them onto other vines.
The goal is clear: he wants to bring the best possible Pinot into his bottles. He has achieved this goal.

The "simplest" of the three Grand Crus is perhaps the elegant, mineral Les Margiles.
The best known? The full-bodied, intense, dense, long-lasting Les Rissieux.
The problem is that it is not easy to get hold of such a wine.

Domaine de la Rochette - Les Margiles: incredibly rare, incredibly good.
