Still surprisingly light in colour. Normally, it is said that the really great Sauternes vintages quickly turn dark in colour when young. Dramatic bouquet, smoke, vanilla, light apricots and mirabelle plums, showing a clear mineral note, which complements the fine peppery botrytis. Complex and finely racy on the palate, superb balance, with plenty of vanillin, almond paste, a hint of marzipan and light, bakery-like roasted notes on the finish. A great, still fresh, finesse-rich Yquem with a long future and at the same time early youthful charm. (20/20). 16: Slowly developing yellow gold colour. Stunning nose, a round dance of great Sauternes aromas. Traces of candied lemon peel, English orange jam, dried apricots, camomile and a hint of saffron. Completely complex nose. The palate continues in exactly the same way. It shows the legendary vintage.
