I served this wine alongside Rieussec and Lafaurie-Peyraguey at the Sempacherhof. This gave it the opportunity to impressively demonstrate its greatness and difference to the other Sauternes. There is no hurry here. (18/20). 12: Bright golden yellow colour, lightening rim. Somehow the bouquet is a little woody, the sweetness seems so dry, but also surprisingly concentrated, caramelised orange peel, ginger notes. Lots of malt on the palate, slightly brittle in the extract, seems somehow unfinished and unfortunately shows very fine capsule notes in the finish. The nose is clearly better than the palate. 1970 was not a Sauternes year either!
