02: Barrel sample: Intense, dense yellow colour. Rich, multi-layered bouquet with peppery botrytis, mirabelle plums, apricots and dried fruit. The palate shows a thick body, which is well balanced by the lively acidity, cooked peaches and a nice vanilla note from the well-fitted barrique, a moving Sauternes experience with dramatic length. Clearly one of the leaders. 06: At Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg as a sweet finale to a Monday wine lunch. Lots of sultana flavours, the botrytis is very compact. A little too sweet on the palate at times because it is closed. It's worth waiting about 5 years, although the wine is already outrageously easy to drink. (18/20). 16: Already quite dark golden yellow in colour. The bouquet is very intense, showing not only pronounced sweetness but also dry spicy notes, fine bitter almond nuances and a hint of pickled gelatine. On the palate, bitter almond flavours are again evident on the tongue, with subtle capsule-like notes. It is big, but somehow you are also looking for harmony. |
