Lightening garnet colour with ruby, but also mature reflections on the rim. Red berry, sweetish contours, redcurrants, raspberries, fine wax tones and delicate, perfumed vanillin. Rose petals and pink peppercorns in the second attack. A beautifully mature, delicately spicy, calming nose. Slender on the palate, with a well-supporting and well-maintained acidity, remaining here in the red berry, gently acidic range, subtly mealy flow, aromatically lingering. A very good wine from a difficult year. And still so amazingly present. (18/20). 17: Another magnum, this time at the cellar table of Chalier B. It had no chance at all next to the Mouton 1996. On the other hand, it was a feminine, elegant counterpart. The fruit contours still show red berry traits. However, this is probably also due to the conservative, discreetly dominant acidity. |
