Rating 18/20
90: Barrel sample (17/20): Open nose; biscuits, mirabelle plums and cooked yellow fruit. Rich, fat on the palate, but somewhat chewy due to young tannins. Arrivage (17/20): Its almost oily richness makes it seem awfully greasy and sweet. The nose is rather difficult, as it only opens up a little after a day. The patient are rewarded here. The impatient will certainly turn up their noses at the moment. 1997 at a tasting in St. Gallen: Intense, but not yet fully open; appears spicy and floral in addition to its somewhat jammy sweetness. Flattering on the palate, luscious, pectin note; still needs a lot of time to reach maturity. Wonderfully sweet, but not yet showing its full flavour. 99: Medium yellow; bright. Spicy bouquet with hints of camomile and hay flowers; shows good concentration. Well-supported acidity on the palate, which polarises somewhat with the sweetness, lots of extract, dried fruit, good potential, will still be able to grow, but will always remain gently dry.
