Gabriel:

Drinking maturity drink up
Valuation 17/20
Warm flavour with a dark roast. On the palate with charm and a certain sex appeal. (17/20). 16: The colour shows a maturity that matches the vintage. Open, delicately roasted bouquet, earl grey tea notes, pralines and a hint of lemon thyme. Still quite fleshy on the palate, with subtly pithy tannins in the extract, perhaps a little brittle. Otherwise, however, it is still very easy to drink. (17/20). 17: Now in full maturity, without having to hurry. Drunk with Lucien in Ste. Maxime. Not a great Mouton but a pretty nice Mouton. (17/20). 18: The colour is surprisingly dark for a 1999. Rich garnet in the centre with a brick-red rim. The bouquet is fully open, with a woody sweetness, showing a peppery, perhaps even slightly pungent nuance in the centre. On the palate, the flavours intensify. Peruvian palm, cinnamon and exotic woods, with a rather fleshy, sometimes grainy contour. It can be described as a Mouton with rough edges. There are still some reserves for later. I used to rate it at 17/20. This bottle: 18/20.
