Drinking maturity drink ( - 2045)
Valuation 19/20
Very roasty and with its explicit cedar touch also reminiscent of a very great Saint-Julien. 16: Again a lot of cedar on the Rütli bottle. It now slims down nasally and offers so much flavour. (19/20). 17: At the cellar table of Charlie B. I decanted this magnum seven hours earlier. It hit like a pleasure grenade and was quickly appreciated. Because - the bottle was empty quite quickly. (19/20). Anyone who wants to savour a mature Mouton and doesn't appreciate earthiness should try this 1996. Max Gerstl took it with him to the GV of the Weinbörse. It was great fun travelling at a very high level! As already mentioned, this is a fast Mouton when consumed. The bottle is coveted at the table! (19/20). 19: Rich purple colour, slightly brownish rim. The bouquet is extremely toasty. It shows the vinification style of Mouton from this era. (At that time, 100 % new barriques were consistently used). In the second attack; malty sweetness, first dark leather notes and traces of slightly overripe Merlot in the form of dark sultanas. Very concentrated, tight-knit on the palate. Fleshy and full-bodied at the same time, there is still plenty of fruit on the inside. It seems to want to go full garacho soon. So the first maturity is soon in sight. (19/20).
