Drinking maturity drink ( - 2028)
Valuation 19/20
It has never been so good. Drunk from the cellar reserve on Markus Müller's birthday. (19/20). 16: Dark, dense wine red from the centre. The bouquet is young, showing fine fleshy contours and a certain minerality on the one hand, but also cassis residue on the other, rather compact and with a hint of depth. Serious palate, still astringent, showing beautiful meaty flavours and still almost a little angular in its approach. An amazing fountain of youth that can be savoured for decades to come. This was a fabulously good bottle. (19/20). 16: Completely straightforward and present, you could even sense some cassis residue. (19/20). 17: Magnum. Still very dark, youthful colour. Intense, spicy, profound bouquet. There are even traces of cassis in the first impression, then dark tobacco, complemented by a wonderful, gently cool Cabernet Sauvignon note, with a hint of eucalyptus. The typical Mouton sweetness has to fight its way through and only really reveals itself after a certain decanting time. The palate is dense, fleshy, quite noble, but also clearly conveys the somewhat demanding 1988 vintage, with a long, particularly aromatic, almost black berry finish. A young Mouton with potential for at least another three decades. Decanting for a long time is very good for it. (19/20).
