Drinking maturity drink (2018 - 2045)
Valuation 19/20
72 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 26 % Merlot, 15 % Cabernet Franc. 30 % smaller harvest than normal. 42 hectolitres per hectare. Rich garnet colour with violet reflections. Explosive bouquet with lots of black and blue berries. Peppery, rising to the head, but also profound. Firm, bound palate, showing lots of tannins, but also flesh and power at the same time, sensational balance, very good support. Almost like the Lynch 1990, only more concentrated and also showing power. Silvie Cazes-Regimbeau, Head of Communications at Lynch Bages: "Never before have we used so many new barriques for the great Lynch Bages 2005, namely 80 %. As a rule, we use a little more than half. Only with the equally brilliant 2000 did we go up to 70 %!" 07: A powerful wine with breathtaking beauty! 08: Very dark garnet, rich in the centre, ruby at the edge. Powerful, almost bomb-like Cabernet bouquet, a hint of dried fruit Amarena cherries and dark roasted notes, lots of precious wood notes and a hint of pralines in it, rising to the top and therefore very intense. A mouthful of Pauillac on the palate, creamy, rich and loaded with fat tannins, comparable to a great Mouton in terms of eroticism and certainly one of the very best and finest Lynch-Bages in terms of quality, with an extremely long finish. In 5 years a Bordeaux for big glasses! 15: It opens only tentatively after a fine reduction tone, behind which it already shows quite a lot of ripe, slightly plummy contours. The change from fruit to terroir is currently taking place, which indicates an initial maturity for enjoyment. Juicy, long and elegant on the palate, with plenty of flavour pressure on the sweetish finish. The still demanding tannins towards the end call for more bottle ageing. Anyone who uncorks it now will miss out on some of its greatness. (19/20). 15: Magnum bottles. It is currently in a brute, almost vulgar Cabernet phase. The fruit is fading and the terroir is beginning to take over. This is going to be something! For sure!
