Drinking maturity drink ( - 2022)
Valuation 18/20
99: Barrel sample (18/20): Explosive, lavish cassis, blackberry, Pauillac bouquet, lots of black cherries, a hint of coffee, mint and currants. Lots of power, strength and fleshy muscles on the palate, rich extract and a palate-enveloping, race-giving astringency, extremely high reserves and a long-lasting finish, resembles a blend of 1989 and 1990, which allows for a lot of expectations. 02: Intense wine red with garnet and purple reflections on the rim. Floral, fleshy bouquet with a marvellous vanilla note, amarena touch. Very aromatic on the palate, despite only medium-weight contours, marvellous blueberry and cherry finish, feminine Lynch with medium ageing potential. 04: A small sip at lunch from a neighbouring table. Seemed very closed. I would probably wait a little longer for this wine than I had initially thought. On the other hand, you can also extend the length of time it can be savoured without risk. (18/20). 06: You could start drinking it now. With its cassis notes and buttery traits mingling with sweet coconut, it shows a certain Las Cases Saint Julien affinity. 08: Still a very dark garnet colour. Black cherries, caramel, freshly baked brown bread, almost perfumed. Elegant, quite fine palate, well proportioned, the tannins show first maturity, cassis and blackberries in the finish, overall showing a certain Napa affinity. 10: A fine Lynch that could be criticised for not showing a lot of pressure - as a Lynch. But somehow it makes up for this with finesse and comes across more like a fine Saint Julien. 11: After a Cos Magnum 1996 was not so good, or somehow corked, I decided to get a double bottle of Lynch Bages from Lucien. Slightly Californian at first, then becoming soft and juicy. Fun - even if the pressure is perhaps a little lacking here. Now fully ripe for savouring. (18/20). 14: Has recently developed psotivi and is now entering the terroir stage for the first time.(18/20). 18: I didn't like it at all on a wine evening in Vienna. I wonder if the bottles weren't stored so well. The nose was peaty, the texture was haggard. I hope it doesn't go in the wrong direction.
