Valuation 18/20
04: Deep, dense purple-ruby colour, purple rim. Dense, warm, almost creamy bouquet; mocha, butter, precious woods, cocoa beans. The palate already shows a powerful souplesse, dense, creamy with praline tones, light malt, roasted nuts and ripe plums in the finish, delicate cassis flavour. An erotic St. Julien that could go in the direction of 1982 and thus perhaps grow into a wine of the century. (19/20). 07: Rich purple colour with dark, almost black reflections. Sweet bouquet, fine buttery notes, caramel, dried fruit, sandalwood (Tempranillo sweetness), coconut bounty touch. Velvety, supple palate with an uncanny souplesse, the tannins are surrounded by a lot of melting fat, powerful finish. (18/20). 10: Medium-deep garnet colour with a fine ripe shimmer. The nose is more reminiscent of a dessert than a wine, lots of nougat, caramel and melted nut chocolate, incredibly rich roasted notes. The palate is like a wine cream, showing Amarena cherries and plummy Cabernet. Somehow over the top but far from tasting like Bordeaux. Somehow easy drinking - but not easy paying. (18/20). 13: Rich, dense purple colour, ruby rim. Seductive bouquet, cherries, grenadine, raspberries. Fresh berries on the one hand, but also something jelly-like or even jammy on the other. A paragon of sweetness on the palate, very concentrated, the extract seems almost somewhat extracted and quite peppery to savoury, which comes from the pithy tannins. There is a lot here - except for the desired harmony. But perhaps that will come. At this market price, we would very much hope so. The Napa fans at the table liked it. (18/20). 19: The nose is hot and a bit porky, cooked fruit. Full on the palate but not insanely fleshy. Unfortunately, it's much more from the vintage than from the vineyard.
