Drinking maturity drink ( - 2035)
Valuation 18/20
Medium garnet colour with a brightening, rust-red rim. Red plum, sweet, expansive bouquet with fine tea herbs. Not incredibly powerful, but harmonious and communicative. It gently increases with contact with the air. The palate has a lot of charm, the tannins are coated with a delicate layer of fat, making the flow appear creamy, but the extract has slightly mealy contours in the first half hour. This is where the reserves for another 20 years lie. You can start there. Reach for the carafe! After three hours it became subtly lactic, showing more malt and also some mocha, the tannins still with some muscle. 20 hours after uncorking, the next day: open, sweet and no oxidation. Slightly emaciated on the palate, but still a certain tannic rigour. So it is/was not yet ripe. (18/20). 17: It has mellowed, but unfortunately lacks the flavours that one would otherwise expect from a great Mission. At the moment it seems almost too discreet. On the other hand, it has finesse like no other Mission in this decade. I'm rather unsure when it comes to maturity. Waiting might be the better option.
